The
October Glory Red Maple has her tiny red flowers today. So it's official. Spring is here. I have to tell you all how excited I am by the amazing
traffic numbers coming in to the Tree Grower's Diary these days -- averaging 700 hits a day now. (Planting season, you know.)
But I'm thinking of discontinuing the blog here. It takes a long time to edit, thanks to the insanely slow blog interface.
Well, I'm sure you don't want the details, but suffice to know that if you don't see many updates to the blog, that's why.
It takes too much time. Plus, when you leave a comment, I have to put it up manually, formatting the type for html, again,
major time consuming.
I have been considering combining the tree blog with
my "City of Nouns" blog. This might turn off my tree readers. But at the same time, it might be interesting and educational to my other readers.
I would categorize all the tree-specific stuff in that blog, so they'd be easy to find. Plus, it would be way *WAY* easier
for you to send letters and leave comments over there. All you have to do is put in your e-mail address and be approved one
time by me, and you're in!
In any case, please bear with me while I do some soul searching and try to figure out what to do. Thanks for all your support
and wonderful letters! I haven't been updating the mail page for the same slow reason. But the letters are just fantastic!
My favorite letter of the winter was quite simple: "Should I plant a Bradford pear tree?"
My answer took half a second.
"NO!"
(But to post it on the letters page would have taken me a half hour.)
I've posted a tree-related blog article over there,
(in which I contemplate tree murder) just to test the waters. Come on over and have a look. And if you have a minute, leave me a comment OVER THERE (please not
here) and let me know what you think about the blog combination idea.
Thanks for all your support!
